The GentleYAG™ is the newest in a family of lasers from Candela Corporation. It is unique in the laser industry in that it combines a longer wavelength laser with a patented cooling system, the Dynamic Cooling Device (DCD™). The longer wavelength laser combined with a 3-millisecond pulse allows it to treat even the smallest of hair diameters. The DCD sprays the upper layers of skin with a fine mist of cryogen prior to each laser pulse. This exclusive cooling technology protects the top layer of skin and increases comfort while enabling the laser energy to reach and treat the hair follicles.
HOW IT WORKS
The GentleYAG system uses a high-energy laser that emits a gentle beam of light to its target without affecting the surrounding skin. The skin is first sprayed with a cooling device to increase comfort during the procedure. The long-pulse laser passes harmlessly through the skin where it is absorbed by the problem area.
HAIR REMOVAL BY GENTLE YAG LASER
GentleYAG removes hair no matter how fair or dark the patient’s skin is. It eliminates the endless hair removal headaches of waxing, plucking and shaving. The procedure is a lot less painful than electrolysis, less tedious and can be completed quickly. Delicate pores and skin are safe during this procedure. The laser energy is transformed into heat permanently destroying the hair at the follicle without damaging surrounding skin. Large areas such as the back, shoulders, arms and legs can be hair-free in a single session. The whole process can be completed in 30 minutes to an hour.
SPIDER VEINS BY GENTLE YAG LASER
Laser vein reduction has been around for about 10 years. Because of GentleYAG’s variable pulse width and dynamic cooling device, the typical stinging discomfort experienced through the popular sclerotherapy procedure is greatly reduced. Our “pulse and swing technique” of applying a cold sponge after each pulse also reduces discomfort. Patient Guidelines
Patients should avoid sun exposure the the area(s) of treatment for 4-6 weeks prior to the laser session. Patients should wear sunscreen of SPF30 or greater for any casual (non tanning) sun exposure between treatment sessions.
For best results, patients should avoid waxing, plucking and tweezing for at least 6 weeks prior to treatment and for the duration of treatment sessions. Shaving and depilatory creams are acceptable forms of hair removal between treatment sessions.

Are there any areas of hair types that the laser will not work?
Yes, areas where there are white or gray hair. The laser will not work on hair that does not have pigment (melanine). Also, the laser may not be effective in patients that have hormonal imbalances.
The laser can be used to treat any area on the body with exception of areas that are close to the eyes.
I am pregnant, can I still have laser treatment?
Yes, with the exception of the abdominal and pelvic areas. Any treatments in these areas will be avoided for the duration of your pregnancy. There are no restrictions for patients who are breastfeeding.
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments you may require for optimal long-term benefits depends on the area you wish to have treated, the hair density and your hair’s growth cycle. Most patients require 4-6 treatments to a specific area. Although more treatments may be necessary to achieve the results you desire.
How long does the treatment take?

How frequently will the treatments be performed?
Treatments will be performed once signs of hair re-growth appear, usually at 6-8 week intervals. However, some body areas may be have treatment intervals of 8-12 weeks.
Does the treatment hurt?
You may feel a tingling or stinging sensation on the area being treated. Some areas of the body area more sensitive than others, but most people tolerate the procedure well. Some patients benefit with use of a topical anesthetic ointment.
What happens after the treatment?
Immediately after the area has been treated, the area may become slightly red and puffy and feel warm. This reaction, if any at all, will return to normal within a day or so. Most people usually return to normal activity immediately. DO NOT, however, plan any important social engagement for the same day as your treatment. Do not use make-up lotion or any other cover-up in the area of treatment for at least 12 hours after treatment; this would not allow for heat dissipation from your skin any may cause blistering or pigment changes. You should NEVER pluck or wax your hairs in the area(s) of treatment between session. However, shaving in those areas is acceptable.
